On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the Kerrville community dedicated the Memorial Flood Cross at Flat Rock Park along the Guadalupe River in South Kerrville. The moving ceremony, led by Kerr County Commissioner of Precinct 2 Rich Paces, provided a time of remembrance, reflection, and unity exactly one year after the catastrophic flooding that struck the Texas Hill Country.
On the morning of July 4, 2025, the equivalent of four months’ worth of rain fell across the region in just a few hours, with some areas receiving just over 20 inches. The Guadalupe River rose between 26 and 29 feet in approximately 45 minutes near Hunt, Texas. Tragically, 139 people were killed in the storm, at least 117 of them in Kerr County.
The Kerr County Republican Party supported the event by inviting the community to attend the dedication ceremony and by providing free hot dog lunches for attendees afterward. The Kerr County Trump Team also participated, organizing a 14-car convoy that traveled from Flat Rock Park to Ingram and back following the ceremony.
